Kendriya Vidyalaya Barkuhi (WCL), an autonomous institution under Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Ministry of Education, Government of India, was established in the year 1984 as a project school under Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), Pench Area. The Vidyalaya initially started functioning in the old building at Chandametta and was shifted to its present/new building at Barkuhi in 1989. It was established to provide quality education and cater to the educational needs of the children of employees of WCL and other eligible categories under the Kendriya Vidyalaya system. The school is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, and provides education from the primary level up to Class XII.
